Our Activities in Germany

In Germany, we continued our work with partner organizations, particularly on behalf of people of African descent.

“Das Dinner” Project

One outstanding project was “Das Dinner,” an exhibition in the form of a long tablecloth that conveys information about colonial history, its impacts and continuities, as well as efforts in Lower Saxony to overcome these consequences; it has been and continues to be displayed at various locations. We developed this project together with Netzwerk Dekolnordwest and Göttingen Postkolonial and carried it out in collaboration with our umbrella organization in Lower Saxony, GLOBAL (Network for Global Justice). The “Dinner” events are set to continue.

ASA Project on Solar Energy

Together with our Cameroonian partner TeenAlive, we are carrying out a project as part of Engagement Global’s ASA Student Exchange Program that focuses on acquiring the know-how to build small off-grid solar systems. The goal is to develop training materials that will enable the construction of such systems to be taught. The target group here is young internally displaced women. The project thus simultaneously serves the causes of refugee aid, gender equality, environmental protection—and specifically climate protection—and development cooperation. The topic will be further explored in a follow-up project. The first project phase, with two participants each from Cameroon and Germany, took place in Germany. This will be followed by a project phase in Cameroon.

Support for Women’s Initiatives

We continued our support for women’s initiatives within the ADV. This work took the form of women’s meetings and exchanges. Together with the Association of Lower Saxony Educational Initiatives (VNB), we are conducting a working group with women on the topic of resilience in everyday life.

Documentary Film Project

We have launched a project to produce a documentary film about our activities in Nigeria and the historical background of the conflict in Cameroon. Filming is scheduled to take place in Nigeria. Preparatory and follow-up work is underway in Germany, and the film is scheduled to be screened at various events in Germany starting in 2027.
